LifeShare Community Blood Services is a community-focused nonprofit organization committed to providing a safe and adequate blood and component supply for patient healthcare in Northeast Ohio. With the deep understanding that donors are our most valuable community resource, we strive for excellence in customer care.
Our Philosophy
LifeShare is guided by the philosophy that community blood donations should benefit community patients, and that blood centers must be responsive to the community that supports them. LifeShare’s board of directors comprises local leaders, including medical professionals, business and civic leaders.
Our highest priority is meeting the needs of the community.
Who We Are
LifeShare is a non-profit, 501(c) (3) organization that operates on behalf of patients and their loved ones across Northeast Ohio.
Founded in 1948, LifeShare Community Blood Services is the only source of blood to Lorain County and is a primary provider to Cuyahoga and Stark counties. LifeShare also supplements hospitals in Summit, Tuscarawas and surrounding counties. Donated blood remains in the community where it was given.
Each year LifeShare provides the region’s patients with over 160,000 units of lifesaving blood components. Click here to download a general information brochure. Our main campus is located in Elyria. The flagship facility is equipped to store, process and distribute blood components regionally. As a community-focused charity, each year LifeShare saves Northeast Ohio hospitals and patients over $4 million compared to the alternative supplier.
